When you get to our office, you will be greeted by a warm welcome and a friendly "hello". At Kathleen Kasper, DDS you are never a number or "next in line", you are our guest, our Most Valuable Person.

Bottled water is available in our reception area along with HDTV and a short wait, not the long wait you may be accustomed to.

Your exam time will be approximately an hour and fifteen minutes, and will consist of a review of your Health History, recording of blood pressure, taking any recommended digital radiographs, assessing your periodontal health and then recommendation of the appropriate cleaning or periodontal debridement depending on your periodontal status. If your periodontal health is good, a regular dental prophylaxis will be scheduled. If your periodontal status includes gingivitis or any level of periodontal disease, the proper periodontal debridement will be discussed in detail and scheduled. Further periodontal treatment options will be presented along with any alternatives.

During the exam portion of your visit, Dr. Kathleen Kasper will provide a detailed exam of your oral tissues including an oral cancer exam, cursory TMJ exam, occlusal evaluation, exam for dental caries using a visual evaluation, digital x-rays. After Dr. Kasper has the appropriate diagnostic information, a Treatment Plan will be created. The doctors will request a separate consultation appointment if much dentistry is needed or if additional time is needed to discuss your options.

All this is to say that we really, really care about our family of patients. From our office staff to the assistants to the doctor...even to the part-time helpers that just enjoy working in a positive and encouraging atmosphere. Come see us at Dr. Kathleen Kasper, DDS and experience the difference!

Being sensitive to the fact that different patients have different financial obligations we have put together

different options to help finance the cost of your dental treatment.

There are generally two common types of dental insurance plans. They are traditional dental insurance plans (or “indemnity”) and managed care plans. In recent years, many employers have introduced Direct Reimbursement plans to provide savings to the company and greater benefits to their employees.

Patients may select any dentist they wish to perform their dental care with a traditional (indemnity) plan. Payments for these plans are provided on a “fee-for-service” basis. With this being the case, some procedures will be covered completely, while other procedures will be covered at different percentages. Either way, the patient pays any portion not included in their individual insurance plan.

DMO’s (capitation plans) and PPO’s (ppo dental insurance) are the most common managed care plans. In these plans, benefits are usually limited if the patient chooses an “out of network” provider. The dentist is usually paid a fixed monthly amount for each patient on the plan regardless if the patient ever has any work done, in a DMO plan. A DMO may be a more affordable dental insurance option, but DMO plans because of their low reimbursement they tend to promote less than ideal dental care as the dental office has very low incentive to provide routine hygiene and preventive services. Kathleen Kasper D.D.S, does not participate in any DMO plans at this time.

A dentist participates in a PPO plan by signing a contract with an insurance company enabling him or her to attract patients who are covered by the plan. In order to receive the plans maximum benefits, covered plan members must select a dentist from the network of providers. However, if a patient is willing to pay higher deductibles and co-payments they are usually able to choose a dentist outside of their network.

Kathleen Kasper D.D.S. Is currently participating in three PPO plans which are Metlife, Delta Dental Premiere and Cigna Dental Radius.

Many employers are beginning to offer Direct Reimbursement plans because they allow an employee to choose any dentist they wish. With these plans, patients receive reimbursement directly from their employers for any dental procedures. The company manages these plans internally, allowing them to save a great deal of money. Direct Reimbursement plans offer employees more options and control over their dental care choices, as well as lower internal costs for companies and less insurance headaches for patients and dental offices alike.

TIPS FOR PARENTS

Excellent dental health is a must. Here are some tips on how to help your child achieve better dental health:

  1. Even before the child’s teeth erupt, use a clean, moist washcloth and wipe the infant’s gums. This allows a child to get used to a parent working in their mouth.
  2. If your child is under age 10, thoroughly brush and floss his or her teeth at least once a day. You, as a parent, should brush your child’s teeth to insure that it’s done properly.
  3. If your child is between ages 11 and 13, supervise him or her when brushing and flossing.
  4. After age 2, use fluoride toothpaste on your child’s teeth.
  5. Other parents tell me how difficult it is to get their kids to go to the dentists. I don’t get it. My kids love going to Limerick Dental Care. Perhaps that’s because the doctors and staff take great care to insure that my kids feel comfortable and feel welcome... or maybe it’s the neat prize they get when they’re finished.
  6. Remember to schedule yearly fluoride treatments for your child. Annual treatments reduce decay by 70%.
  7. Consider having sealants applied to your child’s permanent teeth. studies have shown that sealants decrease decay by 98%.
  8. Give your child under age 12 a daily supplement if fluoride is not in your water supply.
  9. Limit sugar-containing foods to meal times only. Stick with low sugar or sugar-free foods like carrots or cheese for snack options.
  10. If your child plays sports, invest in a night guard in order to protect their teeth from injury.
  11. Of course these are just general tips and every mouth is different. Contact Us if you need more information or have specific questions about your child’s teeth.
